It would be easy to get flustered over a halt in our plans, but I know that this whole process will require a lot of waiting! Isn’t that what most of the Christian life is like? Waiting on the Lord. I have been reminded recently that we live life in the middle. Every day is not the exciting start of something new. Every day is not the satisfying culmination of a long-awaited goal. Most of life is in the middle.
Even creation is waiting and groaning in the present time… “And not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies. For in this hope we were saved…But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.” (Rom. 8)
But what keeps us going?
“But this I call to mind, and therefore I have HOPE. The steadfast love of the LORD never cases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” Lam. 3:21-23
